I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the Universidade Estadual do Centro-Oeste - Guarapuava, PR, Brazil. As a graduate student I started an extra-curricular internship in a research group in the area of Edible Mushroom Biotechnology, where I began to be interested in the bioactive molecules produced by these organisms. I worked with the extraction and antitumor activity of polysaccharides of Agaricus brasiliensis, further increasing my interest in the biological activities of these compounds. During my master's degree at the Universidade Federal do Paraná - Curitiba, PR, Brazil, I worked with the chemical characterization of polysaccharides from the edible mushroom Pholiota nameko, determining the chemical structure of two molecules. With experience in molecular chemical characterization I would like to apply this knowledge in biological assays to evaluate the potential of these molecules. It was here that the interest for the area of neuroscience arose and I arrived at Zimmer Lab, as a PhD candidate.
I am from the countryside of Paraná State, Brazil. I am very curious to know several places, so I love to travel and to do trails. One of the places I want to visit the most is Patagonia. I am a Yoga practitioner and I enjoy very calm moments to enjoy a good reading or series. I also like to hang out with friends, listen to rock music and try different coffees and beers.
